The Goblin Shark is a common enemy found in the waters of the Dark Depths.

Description[edit | edit source]

The Goblin Shark is an enemy with a very distinctive profile, having an elongated and flattened snout, pinkish-gray coloration, and highly protrusive jaws containing very prominent needle-like teeth. Its body is fairly slender and it has a soft, semi translucent skin covered in dermal denticles, small toothlike structures covering most sharks that assist in defense as well as swimming ability.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

It remains mostly stationary until it spots the sub, at which point it will orientate itself and then charge at the submarine. If no shields are protecting the sub, or the shields are not charged enough, its hit will cause a guaranteed hull breach upon contact. The pointed rostrum (snout) of the Goblin Shark will penetrate the sub for a short duration, damaging any players caught in its attack for 4 health. In reality the rostrum of a goblin shark is too soft and sensitive to do any damage to a submarine. Thankfully, the Goblin Shark is rather easy to spot, as their eyes exhibit tapetum lucidum, a reflective film within the shark's eyes that reflect light to aid in vision.
