Description[edit | edit source]
Stargazers are perciform fish characterized by having eyes on top of their heads and a large, upward-facing mouth in its head. It takes full advantage of the dark and rocky environment it is found in, seamlessly hiding half-buried under the terrain, aided by its rocky colors and texture that makes it hard to distinguish it from the terrain it's found in; patiently waiting for an opportune moment to catch any prey that approaches.
Behavior[edit | edit source]
Stargazers will always be found mostly buried in the terrain, with only its face and uppermost body visible, making it very hard to spot due to the dark environment it dwells in. Once a crewmember approaches or the creature is hurt, it will uncover itself and attempt to swallow anyone within its reach, trapping them inside its mouth as they are slowly chewed alive. If it doesn't manage to swallow a crewmember, it will pursue anybody near it and attempt to eat them as well. Once it has captured someone, it will be unable to move due to its own weight, and will stay immobile until they finish eating its meal, at which point it will spit out the skeleton of its victim and will guard it until someone approaches, which it will try to eat as well.
Tactics[edit | edit source]
Always explore the Dark Depths in groups, preferably of at least 3 people, and pay constant attention to the cave floor, using the diver helmet's light to illuminate the ground and help notice hidden Stargazers. If you are eaten by one, immediately call for help from your team and give them directions if they do not know where you are.
